Pampas Flicker (Pic champêtre / Carpintero Campestre), Argentinean Pampas - February 2021. These members of the Picidae Family are native to South America and occur in Paraguay, Uruguay, southern Brazil and north, east and central Argentina. In the Pampas region they can be observed in savanna, lightly wooded areas, agricultural and farming land; mostly seen on the ground these woodpeckers feed on ants, termites and insects. They nest in crevices or excavate nests in trunks or trees where they lay up to 5 eggs that are incubated by both adults... https://www.amazon.com/Birds-Argentinean-Pamp//ref=sr_1_1"

White-throated Hummingbird (Colibri à gorge blanche / Picaflor Garganta Blanca), Argentinean Pampas - February 2021. Members of the Trochilidae Family and native to a relatively small portion of South America, these hummingbirds occur year-round in the Argentinean Pampas. It is not unusual to see them but this year they surprised me feeding on a plant named Agave Salmania that was introduced in Argentina from Central America. It shouldn't have surprised me but it did because driving through an area where there are many Agabes, hummingbirds were "swirling" around these flowers and the territory dispute between species was intense... https://www.amazon.com/Birds-Argentinean-Pamp//ref=sr_1_1"

Red-winged Tinamou (Tinamou isabelle / Colorada), Argentinean Pampas - January 2021. The 31st was my lucky day in terms of members of the TInamidae Family; my last posts were about Spotted Nothuras and that same day and just moving the camera in the other direction the Red-winged Tinamou started running... it caught me by surprise, clicked a series of shots that at first sight seemed all out of focus (I didn't have my glasses with me) however, when I downloaded them there it was, one clear photo of the Red-winged Tinamou at full speed... https://www.amazon.com/Birds-Argentinean-Pamp//ref=sr_1_1"

Spotted Nothura (Tinamou tacheté / Inambú Campestre), Argentinean Pampas - January 2021. As most members of the Tinamidae Family, Spotted Nothuras are easier to hear than to observe. They inhabit pastures, savanna, cultivated fields, agricultural and farming land and their plumage really blends with the environment making them extremely hard to see. Besides at the first sign of danger, they lay on the ground and remain motionless; they only move if you are really close just to fly a short distance and disappear somewhere else... https://www.amazon.com/Birds-Argentinean-Pamp//ref=sr_1_1"
