The Program Chairs for the 40th International Sea Turtle Symposium have issued you a challenge! It is a most perilous task, fit for only the bravest of souls ...travel to Cartagena, Colombia 14-20 March 2020 to present and discuss the latest marine turtle research and conservation strategies! Registration and abstract submission are now open! Please submit your 500-word abstracts no later than 25 October 2019. 14th to the 20th March 2020. Dear colleagues, The Annual Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation, conducted every year by the International Sea Turtle Society (ISTS) is a unique event that draws participants from around the world, from across disciplines and cultures to a common platform: sea turtle biology and conservation. The symposium encourages debate, discussion, the sharing of research techniques and knowledge, as well as networking.... By the time the 40th Symposium takes place, we expect over 800 participants from more than 70 countries around the world at a place where the lives of thousands will be different after the meeting. After a highly successful meeting in Peru in 2016, the Symposium is returning to South America in 2020 and will be held in Cartagena, Colombia from the 14th to the 20th March 2020. The City of Cartagena is situated at the heart of the Colombian Caribbean coast and is surrounded by sea, lakes and swamps. Much of the landscape is made up of dry forest, islands and beautiful beaches that are home to terrestrial and marine wildlife. One of the most visited places close to Cartagena is the Corales del Rosario National Park, a coral reef Archipelago a couple of hours by boat from the City, which is a unique protected area to explore throughout its rich marine and terrestrial environments. The Symposium’s venue will be the Hilton Cartagena Hotel at the well-known neighborhood of El Laguito facing the beautiful of the Cartagena bay. https://www3.hilton.com//hilton-cartagena-hote/index.html We will be posting more information as it becomes available on our website.
