Meet the designers and OG stitches folk: Arely Torres- Mexican-American artist who expresses herself through adding chains and various other metal elements, and patches to her work. Her main inspirations are bullies in 90’s movies, James Franco in Freaks and Geeks, and Bruce Lee. She likes transforming plain garments into comfortable wearable armour. Omar Angel Bravo. I am a part of an extremely creative collective called Stitches. Art has played a huge part in my life for as long as I can remember. I create because I simply want to express my interests and self in a way that I cannot readily or easily put into words. I was inspired to start messing with clothes and fabric because I wanted to wear how I felt in a manner that I couldn't convey with paint or pencil. Following the show: we would like to offer to you all how to design and do the same!! We have the opportunity to be able to share space with other organizations at the station, which offers a multitude of creative outlets meant for you all including screen printing, and will be hosting screen printing classes in the near future! Feel free to reach out to us, stay tuned! @ The Station

Under what ethical circumstances can a curator, a person whose career’s lineage was entirely built on the removal (or theft) of indigenous historical objects an...d artifacts from their origins by imperialist nations, speak about the alleged criminality in the displacement of an art object? In 1990, 13 works of art valued at $500 million were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Guards admitted two men posing as police officers responding to a disturbance call. Once inside, the thieves tied up the guards and committed the largest-value theft of private property in history. Curator Ann Holly: I went into the museum in my blue jeans, and when I got there I was in shock! To trash a museum like that- it was just like the barbarians had been there. Frames off the wall, glass shattered, it was clearly not people who loved art who did this. I mean cutting canvases out of their frames? I mean, that’s unspeakable. It’s like having a death in the family. If you find it hard to see the enormity of this, imagine, what if Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony could never be heard again? This was the removal of a large part of culture belonging to a civilized nation.
